I spent an enjoyable time in their reading room looking at old UK photo magazines!

My apologies for not getting back earlier Rob but I thought I'd check with my parents in law first. Unfortunately none of us are so familiar with Putten and the immediate surrounding area. But as you're probably aware the Netherlands is both cycle and public transport friendly and Putten has a train station making most of the major towns and cities accessible.

Here are some useful websites if you don't already have them, unfortunately not all in English (perhaps you can put the web page address into google translate). The vvv is the tourist info office and the other is from the local council.

This is an overview of the dutch railways and their website of station to station walking routes.

I'm sure you will easily be able to fill your week and sorry for not being able to be more specific.

Thanks so much for that! It looks as if there will be plenty to keep me (and my camera) entertained. I've had a play with the train timetables and it looks like the historic towns of Utrecht, Amersfoort, Zwolle and Kampen are all within an easy hour's trip too.

Just back from our trip (5 weeks) and thanks for all the tips everyone provided. While 5 weeks sounds like a long time, there is so much to see and do I just scratched the surface. The grandkids set a quick pace and sometimes they lost me but I managed quite a few good touristy photographs.

I did get in to FOTOHANDEL DELFSHAVEN / MK Optics Int. in Delft - smaller shop but some classic merchandise and knowledgeable staff - lots I wanted but nothing I could afford unfortunately. You can see their online catalogue here

If you are a Leica fan then it looks like it is the place to be. That's an amazing amount of stock

Pretty amazing - no junk that's for sure. Prices reflected that but probably fair market given the quality (too much for me unfortunately). Fun browsing though.

The Veluwe woods and heathland were productive too. I'll scan and post some in my album when I get them printed. Thanks for all the help advice.
