Default Pyrogallol Shelf Life

I have found a UK firm that sells Pyrogallol in larger quantities, and much lower prices than the normal photo suppliers.
Hopefully they will sell to the public.
I am wondering if pyrogallol has a short shelf life?

I am talking of a couple of years at least.

Anyone know if it is worth stockpiling for want of a better word?

Cheers

Easily a number of years as long as it's in a closed container. I have a few kilos.

"I have a few kilos."
That sounds like an American Prepper.

That is very good news.
Thank you for the information.

Next step is will they sell it to me.

Cheers.

I'm not so sure, but it may be that it was one of the other ingredients affecting the potency.
I bought a batch for PMK about 5 or 6 years ago. After a couple of mixes ( I normally only make up 100mL of 'A' ) the pyrogallol powder had hardened. Since then, it seems like I have to up the mix strength by about 10% to get the same results.

Is it possible one of the other ingredients could account for reduced potency, though ?

Ian, with your 'few kilos', have you found a way to keep it as powder with eg. dessicants , or not ?

Stop press : I am told by John Wimberley ( via email ) that he did not notice an effect on potency, from Pyro getting hardened in storage. I'm happy to accept that advice and move on !
