The 'Impossible Project'
Seems like a day for somewhat encouraging news about the analogue photography world.
Has anyone come across the Impossible Project? A team of Dutch ex-Polaroid employees have acquired the old factory in Enschede (NL) and set themselves the target of re-inventing a viable manufacturing technique to bring back Polaroid analogue integral film by 2010. Here's a little reminder of what it used to be like, photographed on my SX-70 two weeks ago on one of my few remaining packs of Polaroid 600, which has an expiry date of August 2005.

An announcement to this effect was made by a certain Simon Galley of Ilford on another nameless site. He was reasonably circumspect but I got the impression that there is hope. Ilford needless to say is heavily involved.

Just a little reminder what 665 used to be like, sigh... taken last year on my Chamonix with a 405 back. I still have 3 packs of 665 left though!

Paul, it was indeed excellent film as was 55P/N. I have two boxes of 55 left but I feel the chemistry will have deteriorated.

I have 12 sheets of 55 P/N left in which the chemistry has definitely deteriorated. I was thinking about processing the film in another developer. Has anyone here tried this?

I think I will have to use mine up soon... the only PITA with 665 is carrying the clearing bucket around with you, at least with 55 one could process and clear back at base.

Ha, the clearing bucket. I was out and about with this once and a dog came up and was about to drink from it Fortunately I stopped it in time much to the bemusement of its owner

Ah yes, the clearing bucket. Mine developed a leak while I was travelling once. Sodium sulphite is great for cleaning carpets in the car...
I have two packs of Type 55 left, stored in deep freeze. I used some sheets a few weeks ago (after thawing out of course!) and they were fine. I think it's more forgiving than the colour film.
