Default Choosing a 300mm Lens for a Nikon F4s

I plan to purchase a used 300mm AF lens for my F4s. The lens of choice is currently, a NIKON AF NIKKOR 300mm F4 ED IF.

Does anyone have any experience of this lens, and will it allow full compatibility with my camera, please?

Thanks in advance.

Richard

I had the manual version of this lens several years ago and it was a cracker! Fitted with the Nikon 1.4 multiplier to give a focal length of 420mm is was almost as good and well worth having

Richard I have both the Nikon ED,s man and auto focus ,the auto focus has the contacts to talk to the camera I love the auto focus its a great lens and f4 is quite adequate and will do the job well the only problem I have with mine is it squeaks a bit and its not the fastest AF lens on the market but its made from old tanks and you could kill somebody with it and carry on using it its that well made

I have a Nikon F4E and the lens works on it perfectly there is a lock for the aperture ring when using it on the F5 otherwise the aperture ring works normally on the F4
