Talking Hello from the USA

I joined hoping to share some photos and learn how to make better prints. I have been shooting and developing film for a long time and have shot everything from 110 to 4x5. I have found the sweet spot for me is medium format folding cameras. Best combination of size, weight and negative size for what I primarily shoot.

I have a darkroom with Omega D2 and Omega 700 enlargers. I learned to print back in the late 1970's and then had a long hiatus starting again a few years ago. Currently using RC paper but hope to start using fiber paper for my best images soon. Currently I only shoot black and white film. If I want color I use one of those cameras that start with the d word

Welcome to FADU, Bob. I, too, use a D-word camera for TIFFs of my wife's paintings (and sometimes her friends' artwork as well) for gallery catalogues and giclées. I put a grey scale in the image area. But for my own pictures I use the H-word (CM-flavour) and I-word with Rodinal (I didn't expect anyone to get 'R-word).

Welcome Bob. Those old folders, even the 6x9 ones can come close to being pocket cameras, albeit for largish pockets. Certainly more compact than any other MF camera I can recall.

When on vacation and we are out walking around I usually wear a vest with lots of pockets. A folder will fit very nicely in one of the large pockets.

Hi.
I only shoot colour now with one of those "D" cameras (well I have several actually but not nearly as many as I have film cameras).
I too used to love carrying round a folding 120, plus a little 35mm too like an Olympus XA2. Sometimes to save time I would load several folders and carry a flight bag or similar there always being a camera ready for action.
