Default Durst M670 Lens Panel Alignment

The simple answer is you can't align it.

I recently bought an M670 and found this out when attempting to square and align the enlarger.
The lens panel is mounted on two steel rods that are firmly held in the main casting with no provision for horizontal adjustment allowed for at the design stage.

I have only found one reference to the problem on the internet and that had no satisfactory conclusion.
My Durst M605 has a lens panel that is adjustable to sort out converging verticals etc. but the M670 does not have this feature.

After a lot of headwork I came up with the following adaptor
Mine was made using a lathe, but it could possibly be made using a 3D printer if you have access to such a thing.
The disc could also be made from plywood mounted on a nut and bolt, then turned in an electric drill. I did a lot of model making parts using a drill in this way before I had a lathe.
Drilling and tapping holes could be replaced with self tapping screws.

It is basically a firm rubber washer cut out to fit between the lens adaptor ring and a homemade mount fitting the main lens panel.

The three screws allow for a small amount of alignment of the lens in the horizontal plane.

This is not meant to be a how to make it article, but just to put the idea out onto the internet.
The pictures should be self explanatory.
By screwing and unscrewing the three screws the lens can be adjusted in whichever way you choose.

Hopefully somebody out there will find this useful.

Cheers all.

p.s. It will be painted matt black eventually.
