Default Hello from Leeds, UK

Hi All!

I just joined the forum as I've taken up shooting 35mm again after a 10 year hiatus due to work and family pressures.

Recently, I've been able to set up a permanent darkroom, albeit doubling as a laundry room. I was previously doing B&W printing on a folding table in the garage, without easy access to running water. My new space has dedicated space for an enlarger, some worktop, a sink, and red LED strip on top of the cupboards as a safelight.

I'm interested in trying colour printing, having developed and scanned colour film in the past. I've swapped my little Durst F30 for a Vivitar VI with the colour head that I got super cheap. I've picked up most of whatever else I need.

Hoping to learn a thing or two from the experts here!

James

Welcome back aboard James!

There are a few colour printers on this site, along with LOADS of b/w takers and printers, so plenty of knowledge to share. Just ask.

Welcome James. You seem to be well provisioned in terms of a darkroom and equipment

A laundry/utility room sounds like an excellent darkroom space - you have all you need in terms of water, drainage and electrickery at hand. Nice!

Have fun.

Not to mention ventilation, if you can access the dryer venting.

Unfortunately I can't, as we blocked it off because we have a heat pump dryer that doesn't need a vent.

The room has doors into the kitchen and into the garage at the other end, so with the colour paper is in the drum, I can ventilate as needed once the lights can be switched back on. B&W chemistry isn't that bad.

I took a lot of colour a while back that I'd like to revisit, and I'm trying the new Phoenix film, but B&W is still very much of interest. You have a lot more creative options with B&W I think.
