I too have a box of X-ray film waiting to be used in my 10 x 8 pinhole, so yes it can be used in LF camera, well any camera, if cut to size. One of the benefits is that it is a lot cheaper than HP5+ etc. so experimentation is a lot cheaper.
A lot of it is double sided Paul, with some people leaving it as is after developing, whilst others remove one side of the emulsion with straight bleach. I believe there are also variants of the film, with different colours reproducing better with different films. Mine is better or worse with the colour green I think. I'll only know after trying it I suppose. There is a lot more info on the 'other site beginning with P', so I'd pop across and do a search there... Terry S |

I was reading a bit about x-ray films this morning, and it also reminded me that you can use it under a standard b/w safe-light as well. Terry S |

The linked pages of his give a good overall understanding of using x-ray film, but he doesn't mention developing it in film developer, only preferring to use print developer. The other links on this subject will undoubtedly give more info on this. Terry S |

Interesting article on Andrew Sanderson's site. He mentions several XRay film stockists but none of which he had tried and the article was a few years ago. Out of curiosity I did a Google check on suppliers and the first that came up was Silverprint but the prices were eye-wateringly high
I then noticed a site called A Somerville which was mentioned on the LF forum. It sells Agfa XRay film at what seems to be almost unbelievably low prices by comparison. Does anyone here have a supplier and what are the prices? For alternative processes it would seem that making a paper enlargement from say a 35mm or MF neg and then contact printing on to the appropriate size XRay sheet is the only way to go if you want to remain fully analogue Thanks Mike |
