Dunno Mo. Was this an on-line article? If so, any chance of a link or idea how to find it?

I suspect they mean a Summicron with the glass removed. Not to be attempted at home.

Try entering: "cds meter cell" leica in a browser search engine of your choice.

What's the link between a Summicron with the glass removed and a Cds meter?

On a Leica M5 if you mount a lens with no elements you can look through it to see the CDS cell sitting in front of the shutter. With the lens off, the CDS cell swings out of the way and is hidden. Don't know what's beautiful about it though.

If its for an M camera, why not buy a cheap LTM-M mount and fit that without installing a lens see here

That would do the same thing certainly but why would anyone bother? If you want a fetish there is always feet and rubber.

On the early rigid 50mm Summicrons the lens head unscrews from the focus mount, it can then be used with a Visoflex & bellows,

That's what is meant by an Empty mount.
