You could also try contacting someone like Getty Images or the V&A Museum to see what they would recommend.

Thank you all for your replies.

As usual plenty food for thought.

Think for now I'll stick to cleaning the glass side only and see how they print. Will need for the weather to completely break as it's been way way to hot to even enter the dark shed.

We need to do a 50% weather exchange. It's too cold for me to print here in Australia, but I'd love to send you some cooler air so you can get some prints of those plates done.

Aside from old glass plates (mostly military weddings all from the one studio, judging by the backdrop), I was asked to make prints from someone's father's photos taken during World War II. His father travelled up the Nile to Malta and it was absolutely incredible to see these men, soldiers, my age, relaxing with a portable record player or sleeping in the hold of a ship and the temple at Abu Simbel before the Aswan Dam was built and the entire temple was moved up onto a hill out of harm's way.

I hope you uncover some treasures, too! The owner of those 👆 negatives had never seen what they contained previously.
