I have had a very bad ongoing experience with this dealer, any one else had problems?

Sorry, I had never even heard of him until I saw this post so, no experience at all. From what I have since learned via Google he appears to have been in the business a long time

I bought a Super Ikonta from him in about 2004. It had minor issues which I sorted out myself: the transaction itself took place without any problems.

I’m sorry to hear that you’re having problems, Tony. I have bought a few LF items from him without any issues. I don’t know if he had a proper shop, but I’m sure he used to advertise regularly in Amateur Photographer. The articles I bought were via his eBay shop.

2 purchases and 2 returns but no problems with refunds.

What I can say, is that I miss pictures of the items on his website which aids description and identification.

The following is stated on his website;
Most items have a 12 month guarantee.
all secondhand items are sold with an unconditional 14-day return privilege. If you are unhappy with your purchase for any reason, just return it within 14 days of invoice date and we will refund the purchase price in full. There is absolutely no risk!

I purchased a Nikon D800 for £645 at the end of December 2020 after a few days the camera had not arrived so I contacted Walnes letting him know, I was told that the parcel containing the camera had been sent via UPS but had been put on the 'wrong pile' and had been sent to Norway, Walnes promised his urgent attention in getting the parcel back from Ups but the person dealing with the loss was off work with covid-19 after a furthe 2 weeks I contacted Walnes and asked for a refund which he promised to issue straight away, he didn't and after several requests from me and excuses from Walnes I still haven't had my £645 back 10 weeks later

In April 2019 I attempted to purchase an Olympus OM lens Peter Walnes had listed on his website - he seemed to have gear that few others had. The order didn’t go through so I emailed him. He responded quickly & informed me the lens had been sold & he hadn’t yet updated his stock list online. I then enquired about another lens listed & he said that too was sold. He was polite & quick to respond but at that point I decided not to have any further dealings with him.

I hope you get things sorted, Vanannan - it’s unpleasant and stressful when things go wrong.

In the UK if you paid using a credit card, you should be able to get your money back from the credit card company.
Not sure if it works with debit cards.
When paying for anything of reasonable value I try to using a credit card.

I hope you get sorted properly.

Cheers.
