Default Fuji Pro 400H discontinued

I don't know if this is news to forum members, but I came across this announcement posted on Facebook today.

A great shame to see this long established colour film discontinued, although I personally prefer Kodak films for their warmer tones.

If there is a problem with the supply of the ingredients then it isn't crystal clear to me if this is temporary or permanent. If the latter and if C41 film seems to be getting harder to find and finally the reason why its harder to find is the demand then this might well suggest that somehow there will be a replacement for Pro400H. It may not be identical but not identical does not necessarily mean worse

Out of the ashes of old Acros came, phoenix-like, the new Acros so you never know

Not familiar with the film, but any film loss is a sad day

Yes and mostly from the actions of those who use say 5 rolls a year and buy 100 rolls so they have 5 years stock or the speculators betting that once gone for even a couple of months the "addicts" will need their fix so desperately that the sky becomes the limit pricewise

It happens everytime no matter what the material is for sale. Panic is a terrible thing. I still recall the near empty shelves in supermarkets within 24 hours of the Covid lockdown announcement before sanity took over again and things settled down

It succeeded NPH, I think, Bob. That might ring a bell with you.

I used to like NPH in the darker months and Reala when I could see.
