Sounds like good news, John, except for those who do RA4 at ambient room temperature - possibly. I used that word because as far as I know most other RA4 developers do work OK at 20C so I wonder two things:
1. Is there something in the make-up of Champion that renders it faulty at 20C 2. Does that "something" also affect its efficacy at even 3 degrees less than the recommended 38C? I suppose that the only way to know would be to try it at 20C and if a problem occurrs then at 35C Thanks Mike |

My thinking is because of the huge 100% increase in paper area between replenishments the extra 3C accounting for the extra development area. I just don't know.
Here is the information that I pulled off the website. there is another difference in that I missed the replenishment rate thinking it was 100cc per 2 sq m when in fact it is only 80cc. This brings it up to the same replenishment rate As the Fuji RA4 I have been using I have been using that point also was missed. Champion RA4 Primaprint SP-LORR Developer Replenisher Features: Single Part (SP) homogeneous, clear developer is easy to use - just mix with water. No parts to mix together and so less packaging waste. Replenishment rate of 80mls/m2 at 38oC.[/B] Last edited by John King; 4th July 2023 at 06:11 PM. |

At one time Champion were a major contract manufacturer for the chemicals sold as Kodak colour chemicals. They were one of the suppliers to Eastman Kodak who were most harmed by the Eastman Kodak bankruptcy.

Since I have found this 'new' developer I have discovered a fewother dealers who have it is stock. Process Supplies, the new renamed Tetenal (Dupli)and Speedgraphic. The only difference being the last 3 only sell it as a a block of 6 x 1 litre bottles whereas AG will sell individual bottles, each of which will make 10 litres of working solution.
AG also sell 3 litres of BLIX concentrate under the name of Mydoprint (which I also believe is a Champion product too) which it sells for the same price as a bottle of developer and this dilutes down to 10 litres as well. The only thing that is out of step is the Champion developer starter is about twice the price of that sold by the likes of Fuji - but importantly, it is available. Now all we need is the supply of film to improve as well. Last edited by John King; 6th July 2023 at 07:30 AM. |
