If your answer to any of the above is "yes‟ you should consider joining our Monthly Print Exchange.

Everyone is welcome – beginners and experts alike. Works of art and examples of work in progress are all accepted.

The rounds are run on a month by month basis so you don‟t have to commit for more than one month at a time. You can dip in and out of the rounds to suit your needs.

If you decide to join you will make many new friends and see a wide range of work in the comfort of your own home.

Membership is FREE and is available to anyone who is a Friend of FADU. Each monthly round will contain a good mix of members who will have varied tastes in technique and subject matter and who will have achieved differing degrees of expertise. Everyone is welcome - from the beginner trying to improve to the advanced practitioner. The common bond is to see real prints from other photographers, to show your own work on a wide scale and to interchange with others who share the love of film photography and the darkroom. This is the very essence of the Print Exchanges and is what undoubtedly makes them so worthwhile to belong to.


Joining

If you wish to join or find out more contact Tony Marlow (Tony) on the appropriate Print Exchange round thread or send Tony a Private Message (PM).

Alternatively, you will see a reminder each month to sign up via a thread on the forum, the cut-off being the last day of the month prior to the next Print Exchange round. If you wish to be included then make a post on the thread for the month concerned to this effect and at the same time send Tony a PM with your name and address. Head the PM with the title “FADU Print Exchange Round”, and add the round number. You will then be given the name and address of one other member to whom you will send your print before the end of the following month.


How they work

You will not be told who has been asked to send you a print: that remains a surprise until you receive it.

When you receive a print please post to that effect on the appropriate Print Exchange Round thread. You may say who it is from and comment on it if you wish.

We encourage our Friends to post their image to the relevant round gallery. If you prefer not to post your print this is fine as doing so is optional. If you post your image do this soon after you have sent it, but without naming the recipient.

In order to keep the rounds running as smoothly as possible, anyone failing to send their print without good reason will be excluded from future rounds. If you run into difficulty in this respect you must let Tony know as soon as you can.

The selection process will be as random as possible and Tony will try to ensure you receive a print from a different person in each round, although eventually there will be some repetition.

Please take time to read the following rules which will help keep the rounds running smoothly for everyone.


Rules

• Your print must have been printed from a negative exposed in a film camera
• Inkjet, digitally printed photographs, or computer manipulated images are not allowed
• Your print paper can be any size that will fit in an envelope up to A4 size
• The image may be any size or format
• Paper type and finish is your choice, as is the subject
• Alternative processes, toning or other treatments are all accepted
• It is recommended you provide some background information with your print to assist your recipient as this encourages interchange
• Don‟t forget to enclose your details and FADU name so your recipient can thank you
• You are only responsible for the cost of posting your own print
• Please ensure you dispatch your print within the round month
