What you see there is an extra safelight for occasional use. I use it mostly when I need some orientation before spooling film in reels, loading sheet film etc. In these cases it is convenient to have a light that I can reach without moving.

There are two main safelights which are switched by the red switch left to the door. One you can see over the wallclock and the rulers, the other one is arranged diagonally in the room. Both are dimmable LED lights and shining against the ceiling.

I added a small Ars Imago safelight over the sink last week. That area was very dark. With a very small amount of extra light there I was able to reduce the overall brightness in the room.

You have a smaller darkroom than mine but one hell of a lot tidier. That said, mine also shares the space on the other side of the room with my computer setup, printer, scanners etc so you may well have more room than me but I have to keep one bedroom spare

You must have in mind that my darkroom is just a year in operation. I´m pretty sure it´s just a matter of time till it gets stuffed with gear and materials.
Until now I always found the necessary space for dr stuff offered to me - or refused to take it. Next bunch is announced for next weekend, hopefully I am strong enough to say "No", if I don´t need it. Well, to have is better than to need... .
