Is this what you have done?

The earliest diffusion from emulsion I know is the diffusion from exposed glassplate emulsions to the plate herself which could end in a ghost picture of the former negative seen in the new coated plate.

I guess so, I never studied the chemistry of the materials but the description certainly seems to fit my memories. I'd never heard it called diffusion transfer (usually it was just 'PMT')

PMT meant "Photo Mechanical Transfer".
And I last worked with any of that at least 45 years ago!
