Welcome to the forum Tom. I can't answer you question directly because I use Agfa paper developer and fixer which I brought from Silverprint, but I'm sure others here can comment, both on Champion products and Firstcall's service.

Hi Tom, and welcome.
I've used both Champion Dev and Fix in the past and found them very reliable. I used to use the entire Champion E6 range when it was made too, just as good as Kodak and cheaper.

Doesn't make the chems for lots of other brands anyway? I have used the stuff and it's fine.

They used to but I don't think that's true any more.
It certainly looks to be a very economical range although I have not been able to find any information on usage other than their fixer seems to be designed for use with X-ray film so it should be OK for our purposes, but it would be nice to be able to compare the area that it will cope with before exhaustion, after all if it is more dilute than other makes then it may not be quite so economical as it first appears.

Dave, their Amfix is as 'fat' as any other quality fixer. The specific weight is 1302g/L which puts it somewhere between the Agfa Agefix (now Fix Ag) and Hypam regarding the amount of ammonium thiosulphate in it.

Hi Tom and welcome to Fadu, look forward to nyou input, and to seeing some of your work.
I have used both Promicrol and Amfix from the Champion, and have no problems, and would recomend them, and as for Firstcall's service, I live in the Channel Islands, and normally stuff from them arrives within 3 working days, which is very good, they are an execelent company and if you should have a problem it is sorted promptly without fuss, I have only ever had a problem once, and it was the carrier that was at fault and the level of backup was impressive, including a letter of apolligie from Firstcall although it was not their fault and the no longer use that carrier,
Richard

Thanks Miha, it never occurred to me to look on Firstcall's site for the information.

No problem. It's worthwhile having a look at MSDS as they say quite directly how strong the fixer is.
