Cool Squeegee your film

Hi,
After you have wash your 5x4 sheets film, do you squeegee them? And if so how do you do it?

Can't say about 5x4 but I would never ever squeegee any film, for both 120 and 35mm I soak them in wetting agent, then hang them up and wipe the shiny side only with a folded sheet of kitchen towl,Richard

Jacques,my guess is that the Jobo squeegee designed for 35mm and 120 roll film is big enough to cover a 5x4. There might be other film squegees which are equally good. I have never had a problem with scratches but I check the blades for any rough particles that might be caught between the rubber blades which when they bend to squeegee the film are bought into contact with the film. If the rubber blades get rough or brittle as rubber can then throw it away.

Additionally I wet the blades with the wetting agent prior to use. This lets the blades slide more easily while still wiping the film.

Les McLean if I recall uses a mixture of isopropyl alcohol ( is that the right word and spelt correctly?) with wetting agent and the water just drains off without any residue. I think there was nothing else required.

No, I never squeegee any film. The final rinse is made in distilled water only, then the film is hung to dry. Sheet film is pegged on a line by one corner.

I use a mixture of bottled water, isopropyl alcohol and very small amount Kodak PhotoFlo then shake and hang up by a corner, after about ten minutes take folded piece of kitchen roll soak up the drip that foams on the bottom corner.
My negs bright, shiny and clean.

Squeegeed a film once, never again, scratched and ruined. Squeegee in the bin.
I then tried the 2 finger squeegee method and suffered from water marks on the film.
Now I use a tiny amount of washing up liquid in the water after a 10 minute rinse then simply shake off the excess water and hang the film. I haven't had watermarks since using this method.

No - I don't squeegee either. I have had tramlines more than once. a final rinse with photoflo and then hung in a drying cabinet. I use a slow blow with cold air.

I might be panicking. I filter the rinse water, and use the wetting agent in the final rinse, and I put some IPA in the rinse, and then I hang my films HORIZONTALY. No more drying marks at all. Go on, I'm panicking, but it works for me......

If it works for you, then keep right on panicking.
