Default 6x6 Roll Film and Cut film Camera.... Suggestions.

I have just been looking at an article about the Certo Super Sport Dolly.
Apparently some models took both roll film and cut film holders.
They look as rare as rocking horse stuff.

Are there any other cameras of the folder type that use 120 and 6x6cm cut film holders.
My Durst M605 enlarger only goes up to 6x6 so a 6x9 camera would not be suitable.

Any suggestions?

The Mamiya C3 (and maybe its successors) had cut film adaptors available.

Yes, Ilford FP4 Plus and HP5 Plus.

Looking at the Rolleiflex instructions the cut film holder takes 2.25 x 3.5 sheet film. Ilford sell 2.25 x 3.25 or 2.5 x 3.5 in the above films so I am sure it would be possible to cut those to fit.

Thanks Bill I had looked at Ilford cut sheets but couldn't find any to match but hadn't taken into account the fact that the holders have to be bit bigger

Hi Nat,

I see you're asking specifically about folding cameras. I'm not aware of any cut film capable folders. You might reach out to Jurgen at Certo6.com -- he specializes in refurbishing old folders, and if anyone would know then he's the guy. I've had him refurbish a couple of Isolettes and a Record, and he does great work.

In the non-folder category, in addition to what's been mentioned above, you might look at the Mamiya Press series -- they definitely have backs for that. But they are large and heavy cameras.

A folding camera, albeit larger, is the Graflex Century Graphic. It's a medium format version of the Speed Graphic. More info here: https://graflex.org/speed-graphic/century-graphic.html You could probably pick one up for a good price. Advantages are the body movements, interchangeable backs, and interchangeable lenses! Not as small as an Isolette or something like that, however, but still pretty compact I think.

Apologies: I missed "folder" in Nat's post. I'm sorry the thread went off kilter.

The Rollei TLRs are very versatile, taking backs for cut film, plates and 35mm. A Late Rolleicord would be the economical route, although prices are creeping up. They are surprisingly light and compact cameras. The only point I would make, though, is that you are not likely gain an awful lot in quality using 6x6 sheet film as opposed to 120 rolls. In some cameras, sheet film may sit a bit flatter, but any quality folder or TLR should be built to keep roll film flat.
I do understand that there could be an incentive to use sheet film because you can. Sometimes that is what makes the pursuit more interesting😊

I should have said that I've never seen a 120 folder with a cut/plate back. The closest was an Ensign with internal baffles to alter the negative format.
