West Sussex
I'm off to West Sussex tomorrow. I'm supposed to be going to help my brother decorate, but I will need to escape the smell of paint at regular intervals! I'ts an area I don't know very well. I'm staying in West Dean, near Chichester, and will be reliant on foot or public transport (which, I'm told is pretty good round there). Anyone know any good spots?
One place that's about a mile down the road is the Weald and Downland Museum, which I'm told has some reconstructed buildings from around the area. is it worth a visit with the camera? Rob |

Bognor is not far away. The beach is OK at low tide around the pier area. Early morning / evenings are best to avoid getting arrested :-)

The museum is worth visiting, some good close shots to be had of old tools and associated junk. Chichester cathedral and surrounds are also promising.

Not only are the restored buildings great to look at and photograph but their new building 'The Grid Shell' is also a great work of architecture which needs to be seen to be believed: http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/258909 Steve. |

Many thanks for the reccomendations, folks. the Weald & Downland museum was really amazing. Unfortunately there was a special event on so I didn't get a chance to photograph the Gridshell. Another great place we found was Bosham, a couple of miles south of Chichester. Pretty old village around a tidal bay and a superb pub too! Excellent area for a future FADU weekend, perhaps?
Expect to see some images posted soon. Rob |

Rob, are you offering to be our guide ? We are always on the lookout for folks who know their pubs :-)
Neil.
