Default Way down south

As I began planning a club exchange with Bob, I got to wondering if there's a club further south than ours. We're in Invercargill, New Zealand, down in the 48's. Google hasn't provided an answer.

Good place, I spent some very nice days there some 15 years ago. Isn't any in Bluff?

Cheers

I knew a guy who had worked at the US research base at the South Pole. he was akeen photographer, and he and a few other occasionally ventured outdoors (on the rare occasions when it was possible!) for a bit of photography. He reckoned they described themselves as the 'Furthest South Photo Society!' Sadly I've lost contact with him so I can't verify that.

Thanks, Alfonso. All of the small country clubs have died with the passing of colour slides, and Bluff never had one.I'm not sure that the South Pole group would qualify, even if they still exist.
I suppose southern Chile is the only possible area.

Or in Ushuaia, Argentina, the most southern town. But I don't think there are enough photo amateurs there to make a camera club.

On the other hand, I don't think Argentinians, or from any other nationality, are as much club fans as British (including in this category, Australians, Kiwis, etc). British would create a club the very moment two of them with the same hobby are living in a reasonable size area

Cheers

Alfonso

Thanks, folks. It looks like we can claim one distinction at least.

Default Way Down South

I've been trying to find a club further south than ours in Invercargill. I got a response from an Argentinean photographer who tells me that there was a club in Tierra del Fuego, down in the Fifties, but nothing has been heard of if for many years now. So it looks as if we can claim the honour, as well as our annual visiting icebergs.
