Hello Rob. Good start would be to find one book and stick to it as there is a lot of information out there - saves you getting bogged down in too much theory. The key is to enjoy it. And ask questions on this forum as you go along. We're all at different stages of our use of film photography.
I also find YouTube is good.

Welcome to fadu Rob and although you may think the learning process before you is daunting, I think things have changed for the better for beginners. There are so many demonstrations of all aspects of darkroom work on You Tube that it is almost impossible not to pick up the essentials to get started.
