Hi from Bath, Somerset
Hello,
My name is James and I come from the beautiful city of Bath in south-west England... I got into film photography when I joined a small club at school and it inspired me to get shooting, so my mother kindly passed on to me her old SLR - it's a Chinon Ce-4, which isn't the most ergonomic of cameras and it's been through a lot but it works for me. Unfortunately, being a student, it's often hard for me to find the funds to pay for this hobby... I use the darkroom at school when I can but I believe it's for use by art students only (which I am not) and with exams coming up most of my time at school is used up with studying As a result I have a reasonable collection of rolls of film waiting to be developed, which is always depressing. But I'm sure I'll manage, and it's great to know there's a place I can turn to when I need help, because I'm not so experienced! Cheers, James. |

Hi James and welcome to Fadu, look forward to your input and maybe seeing some of your work. If the films waiting to be developed are B/W no problem, just a changing bag to load the films, a developing tank and inexpensive chemicals, Take a look at the AG site,
Richard

Thanks for having me
Sadly they're all colour, either C-41 or E-6. With my B/W films I tend to sneak into my school's darkroom and do them there, I haven't been kicked out, yet! But then I think I have the right to be annoyed at anybody coming into the darkroom when I'm busy developing my pictures that I've slaved over and trying to kick me out.... |

James,You can get the kits for developing both E6 and C41 at home, again our sponsors will stock them, and the same thing applies, changing bag to load film, rest in daylight, if you want to try it, Others here develop and print their own color films, I have done so, but not for many years as these days I prefer B/W,
Richard

Hi James and welcome to FADU. Keep your eye on my thread called "Whatever happened to Celer 41". It was a kit especially designed for inversion processing and at much less than the critical 37.8C that most kits are used at.
Martin Reed of Silverprint, a sponsor here used to stock the kit and may reply to the thread. He will know if we are ever likely to see it again. As others have said it is possible to use a water bath kept at about 38-39C and use inversion agitation. AGphotographic, another sponsor, sell a Rollei Digibase mini kit which you could easily use in the school darkroom. I can't comment on E6 processing as I have no experience of it. Mike |
