Default Mamiya Sekor 55mm for C330?

Anyone using this lens? I'm looking for a new wide angle for my C330. Before the 65mm broke down, I was very happy with it and it served me as my every day lens. I already have the 80 and 180, so i'm thinking something wider. My worries are that focusing with f/4,5 is very difficult. I'm I right or wrong?

Thanks.

I used to use one when I had a C330 and never found any difficulties with focusing, but I would always use the flip-up magnifier in the viewing hood to assist with focusing. It was my favourite lens for that camera.

I have the lens and I have no problem focussing it with the flip-up magnifier. I have a 65mm also which I never use as the 55mm suits my wide angle needs.

Dave, so the magnifier is a must? I use the C300 for street shooting primarily and usualy have no time to double check anything.

It's a must for my eyesight.

Street work is not something I do, but if I did I would zone focus a lens of this focal length without worrying.

Thank you both Dave and Tony. I will definitely get one - the 80 feels a bit boring now and does not justify the weight of the camera.

Cheers.

I agree withe Dave and Tony. I have one and find focusing no problem but I always use a tripod and the magnifier for my shooting.

I was wondering if you're used to using a 65mm and it suits your view of things why not buy another?
YMMV but I see them on the bay at a lot less prices than a 55mm which seems to be quite sought after.
I have all the c330 lenses - my first bout of GAS - and use the 80mm the most.
I enjoy looking at the 250mm and the 180mm but have rarely used them.

That's a good question, Tony! I guess the broken 65mm gave me the opportunity to try something else. A new challenge, so to speak. There is no rational answer to it, as I'm just a hobbyist.

I know what you mean - most of my purchases have no rational answer even though my wife constantly expects one!
Enjoy the 55mm when you buy one, I think you'll really like it.
