The difference is the elimination of reflections on the shiny side. I’m now wondering if some sort of non-reflective overlay on the screen may work?

Alex, if you're looking to replace the screen but are disinclined to order from China, you might consider a used Mamiya RB or RZ screen. I bought one and cut it to size for my Rolleiflex 3.5C, which had an appallingly dim ground glass screen. The Mamiya screen is excellent. Not only is it nice and bright, but things pop into focus very nicely, which is an attribute of screens that is often overlooked in favour of brightness. Some screens seem to be quite vague in this respect, and lack the snap and precision that a high quality screen has.

Hope this is helpful.

Paul, I think it depends on size. Not all 6x6 screens are the same. If your Hasselblad screens are at least as large as what you want to replace (Yashica Mat, I'm guessing?), then trimming to fit should be no sweat. You would have to measure both to see if they would work.

Also, some are thicker and may not fit into the holder. E.g. my Autocord has a two-piece screen, so I don't think I could easily pull that and put it in, say, an old Rolleiflex.
