A couple of useful supermarket products
I thought I might mention a couple of things discovered of late, with apologies to those already in the Know!
Tesco microfibre cleaning cloths (find them with the dusters and j cloths) These are washable, and I have given them a trial with a couple of scrap lens, they do not seem to cause any problems with coatings, great for personal optics too! £1.94 for two. Oust kettle descaler perfectly removed all traces of crud and verdigis from a slide viewer's copper contacts that were covered in battery leakage. A little smear of oil and they are like new! Use in a pyrex dish or similar, with very hot water, don't leave it too long though, it does start on the copper! John51 Last edited by John51; 1st November 2009 at 01:32 PM. |

Another method for corroded copper is to use boiling water stright from the kettle and a dab of vaseline also work well on car batteries trick of the trade.
