A really wonderful set of slides. As we are now so used to seeing digital projected images it's easy to forget how good slides were. There is a long way to go before that quality can be matched.. Thanks for the link.

Many of the images were on 5x4" film - hardly 'slides'. They are glorious records of an era, very well-preserved and exquisitely reproduced. Would they have been on Ektachrome? Or was there a 5x4" Kodachrome at the time?

The FSA-OWI color photographs are early examples of Kodachrome color transparencies. The dyes and the development processes used for Kodachrome produced very rich saturated colors, and the scans of these transparencies represent the colors of the original 35mm slide or 4x5-inch transparency as closely as possible.

I love these, whatever we call the medium. The expressions "transparency film" and "slide film" are commonly used pretty much as synonyms, after all.

Very informative. I noticed that only those taken in what I assume to be night light seem to have a magenta cast. These are the ones of a square dance with kids sleeping on a bed. I wonder if this is a result of the slide type in artificial light or deterioration in thse slides only?

They look kodachromey to me, in fact they remind me a lot of the collection at Shorpy

I just went to Shorpy for a link and the corner shop Shulman's Market 1942 pictured in the Denverpost archive, is featured at Shorpy too.
