Opemus colour head 3 - new lamp
Hi All,
Think I'm being really dumb here. I am trying to get a new lamp for my Opemus 6 with a colour 3 head. Acording to manual I need a Osram 12v 100w 64627 GZ6.35 - 18, I have tried searching for this lamp and can get a match but without the 18 part of the description. like this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Osram-A1-...AAAOSwl8NVXKB6 Anybody know if this is the correct lamp ? Can any opemus users tell me where they get their lamps from ? Printed description on the side of my existing lamp is Osram HLX 64627 Xenophot 12v 100w Germany i158 Many thanks Ian

I’m sure Firstcall photographic were Meopta distributors. Perhaps give them a call? Their P&P can be quite hefty, however, so worth checking before you buy anything.

Hi Ian
The gz6,35 is the base spec where the bulb plugs in so i think that as long as the voltage and wattage are correct as well then that is the important bit. Steve |

Hi Ian,
Try contacting RK photographic, one of the forums sponsors, who were the importers of Meopta, and who I believe still have some spares as when meopta stopped making enlargers bought up all the remaining stock of enlargers and spares Richard

Hi Ian, there really is nothing special about enlarger bulbs, the same type is widely used in projectors and stage/disco equipment. The one you found on ebay is exactly right.

I'm sure it will be fine Ian. The "18" is likely to just be an unimportant manufacturering detail - something like "has tin-plated pins", or the kind of packaging it's sold in. The further you get from the main part number, the less important the number tends to be.
You might want to order another couple once you have checked it is working fine in your enlarger - always nice to have a spare or two sitting around ready (he said, having just had to chase around t'internet for a new lamp himself a few weeks ago ). Have fun, Bob. |
