I am not confused! The black box is of no concern to me it is the heating element - the long dark brown tube at the back. It is clearly stuc to the base of the container by what look like suction cups and the whole tube is below water level.
If the element had gone through the side of the container, the rubber seal would be able to do it's job and it would be 100% safe Carry on with what you are doing if you are happy with it as it is. It is something I would never ever do - electricity bites - HARD! |

Have you read the link I poste above?
Each model utilises a fully submersible 300W heater element which is capable of heating up to 6 gallons (27 litres) of liquid to your required set temperatures really accurately. |

Actually I'm using this one: https://www.theimagingwarehouse.com/...otronic-Heater
Which is the same as the one you've linked to Barry, only more powerful (300W vs 150W). Both are fully submersible. |

Yes until I read Miha's link I had no idea that Nova sold such submersible heaters. I had assumed that Nova heaters were all inside a Nova Slot Processor They are not cheap but I guess what you pay for is the engineering to make them reliable and safe.

Other submersible options include a sous-vide.

Thanks, Miha. Yes SDS would probably be my first port of call as well
