Yes, I forgot to look at my e-mails until after he went "public" on Friday. By then he was showing "sold out" of 35mm PanF and a couple of other items. He doesn't look competitive on the films most mentioned on this forum.

The "password" seems to have been just an inoperative link on the website before his business went live: my 8 a.m. e-mail from him contained a discount code and no further account-type detail.

Still, as others here have said, it would be good for the film market if he succeeds.

All very well but what about the other items needed ?

sounds like trying to re-invent a shop, bricks and mortar or online, nothing new just some obscure re-branded 35mm films added to what we can buy from many existing stores here in the UK.

Hello folks, this is your "glass half-empty man" again I fear his market is as others have suggested those who want to dabble in this new world called analogue and few may be the kind who will invest in other than "exotic/weird effect film"

As such they may very well be prepared to spend more than the most of us would want to pay for film and that's fine as well.

What is more worrying is that it may be a "fad" and fads tend to be short-lived, especially if the material is more expensive and commercial processing has to be relied upon with its additional expense.

We'll just have to wait and see

Mike

e-mail from him today:

a) good news - there's 10% off all Ilford films throughout June, using a discount code for people who've signed up

b) neutral news - the volume of orders has obliged them to impose a pause in deliveries (till 7 June) to let them catch up

I say "neutral" as, while not great for customers, it's a good sign for the company that they have a viable market. Me, I'm thinking about getting more PanF 120.

On doing a bit of comparison: his Ilford prices are high before applying the discount; but his postal charges are reasonable if, like me, you live in a high-cost postal destination. So it could work out.
