Hello from the West Midlands
Been a long time lurker but finally decided to take the plunge and join the forum.
I've been a professional photographer for around 17 years and like most commercial photographers, sold all my film cameras around 10 years ago, thinking I'd never go back, suppose I'm one of the many to blame ....although you should have heard me complain when I had my F5 taken off me, in return for a NC200. Something happened last summer (mid life crisis, maybe) I bought myself a 5x4 and a Jobo CPP2. Scanning negs is OK but it just doesn't give me the same satisfaction as watching the print appear in the tray, almost feel like I'm defeating the whole point of shooting film. This weekend I'm off to pick up a De Vere 507 with a 500 mulitgrade head, never ever thought I'd be able to afford a De Vere, unless I sold the car. It's been around 15 years since I did a 20x16 fibre based selenium toned print, can't wait to get going again, once I've built the darkroom. Ed (PS I'm after a 20x16 or larger Nova type archival print washer if anyone has a spare one)

Hi Ed and welcome to FADU, I too returned to film after a spell using digital, you can't beat a silver gelatin print, ink jet just doesn't do it for B/W.

Welcome back.
Silverprint used to make print washers or you could try nova secondhand section or SDS. |

Welcome Ed. The darkroom is certainly the key. Great if you have the space. There has to be a prize waiting for someone who can shoehorn a darkroom into say a bedroom and yet still allow it to be used as a bedroom.
An IKEA genius perhaps Mike |
