Default Howdy From Washougal... ???...

It's true... there is such a place as Washougal, Washington, USA, a small town on the banks of the Columbia River. Back in '59, a pair of newlyweds (Reinhold and Judy) blew into town from Chicago and immediately set up a darkroom. Fifty-five years later we still like to frolic in the darkroom...

We're vagabonds at heart (I'm 78, Judy is 72) and always looking for places to burn some film. In the '60's, &'70's, we did a lot of wilderness hiking and camping in Western America shooting 35mm transparencies. In the '80's we returned to medium format and large format monochrome. Since the '90's, we have been marketing B&W prints directly to the public at Art Festivals and through our website.

From my earliest days I've been making things; crafting photo equipment was always a part of my "to do" list. I've made custom printing easels, paper safes, print washers, tripod modifications, a 6x17 and 6x12 cameras, darkroom tools, and recently, replicas of primitive lenses. Photography is more than film, paper, and chemistry. Sawdust, leather, and glue are quite important too. And the smell of fixer in the morning....ahhhhh... heaven.

More about us and and our darkroom here:

Best regards,
Reinhold (& Judy)

Hi Reinhold and welcome. You've done some great work with darkroom stuff a little of which I have seen on another site. If you were in the U.K. I might have bought your dodging set.

Nice to know that we now have another "technician" with practical skills on FADU. Can't have too many of that kind

Mike

Hi Reinhold and Judy!
I think, I stumbled over your website and especially the description of the print drier a year ago or something. Very interesting.
