Hello from Shropshire
Hi,
I was a member of this forum a long time ago, but although my log in name still exists I couldn't remember my password and my email address has changed... So I'm starting again as a 'newbie'. I am just a humble amateur although I have been interested in photography for about 40 years. I just couldn't see any need to switch to digital. I enjoy film and darkrooms. My day job revolves around digital imaging. I don't enjoy that - it is just work, I certainly don't want more of it when I get home! I have had my own dark room for a long time - but it is currently being rebuilt. Long story but brief version is we have just spent over 6 months renovating the house including re plastering all the ceilings and fitting ceiling mounted spotlights. My dark-room was in the loft and I was concerned about cracking the new ceilings as the rafters are only 2 inches. Also, this meant very little room above the ceiling lights. I took one out so we could paint the ceiling and it was red hot A bit of googling told me the the electrician should have left 6" of free air above them. Instead the were pushed into the insulation with my wooden loft floor just above... The only thing was to rip up the floor, stick four inch rafters on top of the two inch, fit stand off boxes over each light, new insulation and new floor. The job from hell.... Especially in this heat! It is driving me nuts that it is taking so long and I can't process or print at the moment - but at least when it is done I get a nice new floor, lots of storage and a new darkroom out if it.... I'm hoping when the structural work is complete I can pick up some hints and tips here, to rebuild a better darkroom than I had before. Steve Last edited by Steven; 10th August 2014 at 09:24 PM. Hello Steve - spent most of 2012/13 renovating our place so I can understand where you're coming from. It's a relief to have it all finished, especially the darkroom. Welcome.

Welcome back Steve. Unfortunately there are a lot of "chancers" in the ranks of so called professional craftsmen. They have made people like Dominic Littlewood into household names via TV.
