Ingram Valley
This is off the A686 about 2 mile north of the village of Powburn and 6 miles south of Wooler. It is a valley which actually leads nowhere but is about 8 miles long before you have to get out and walk if you wish to. About 1 mile after the end of the public road the road continues over which you can walk and then it downgrades to a good track. This trac continues up into the hills where there is a secluded waterfall called Linhope Spout. After the weather we have had recently it is guaranteed to be spectacular.
The valley itself, after about 3 miles, is between steeply sided fells,(with unspoiled hill forts on the tops. The valley bottom littered with boulders with a stream running through. Sparsely populated with trees (not fir) along the stream banks absolutely perfect for B&W. Winter time is also very good but make sure you are equipped for the cold - it can be bitter. |
