Default focusing screens

I bought a rollei 6003 professional medium format camera the other week and have been playing with it ,and I am very happy with it ,But it has one thing that drives me mad and that's a split screen ,focusing ,I have never liked them and it always distracts my eye ,also I like a nice even screen, like my Hasselblad screens .I was thinking about trying to fit a Hasselblad one but the Rolleiflex one is bigger .What is your favourite focusing screen (Fresnel screen) type...…

Beatie might be worth looking for, they seem to make screens for pretty much any interchanable screen camera, Morco were the stockists,

Hi Paul,

Not sure if this is the kind of thing you have in mind, and if it is you've most likely seen this.

I have used a Beatie screen on a Bronica SQ and it was great. They are not cheap but definitely do the job.

Beatie interscreens are still being made, just by another comonany, Reflecta, and Morco are still listed as the UK supplier, just google Beatie interscreen would take you to the site, based in the USA, I have just been there, another scren you might look to is Maxwell screens they are supposed to be very good,

I got a email back from morco and they said Many thanks for your enquiry.

Sadly, production of Beattie Intenscreens at the U.S. factory ended some years ago.

We believe their old website is still active – which gives false hope!

Although we do have some remaining stock, the screen you require was very popular, so sold out quickly.

Very sorry we are unable to help…

although we can, of course, supply you with film for your camera…..

Kind regards,
Peter Moore

I have just bought a very cheap Hasselblad screen ,and will try to remove the outer metal frame and try to fit with shims in the rollei will let you know if it works if not it has kept me busy during lockdown
