Question Pyrocat-HD or Pyrocat-M?

Is there any advantage in making Pyrocat-M over Pyrocat-HD?

The reason I ask is because of "The Demise Of Prescysol" thread.

Pyrocat-HD is considered to be the closest public formula to Prescysol, but is Pyrocat-M a suitable substitute for Prescysol EF?

Sorry Keith I have not used Pyrocat-M. My standard developer is Pyrocat-HD (Semi-Stand). I am very happy with it.

Thanks Barry. As Peter Hogan is no longer making Prescysol & Prescysol EF, I was thinking about the Pyrocat types for the photographers here who liked to use Peter's developers.

Perhaps Pyrocat-HD for a Prescysol substitute and Pyrocat-M or MC for a Prescysol EF substitute. The EF version supposedly gives slightly finer grain, hence my question about HD vs M.

Hopefully the formulae for these will suit those who liked the now discontinued Prescysol devs.

Keith.

Glad to see I'm not alone in being triggered by the Pyrocat HD thread

I was reading about Pyrocat HD earlier and the MC version is described by Sandy as "....a variant I recommend primarily for rotary processing where it tends to give slightly greater acutance than Pyrocat HD. It can only be mixed with proplylene glycol"
