Perhaps PMK would be a good alternative for those who don't want to mix their own Pyro film devs.

I've been using Pyrocat HD since Sandy first revealed the formula.
It's great for me, super negs once has one found has found how to use it.
I spent some time finding my own personal metering and dev time.

It's dead easy to mix up and can never see myself using any other ever. All my negs print at g 2.2 and then enhanced from there.
Cheers Jon

I haven't used this guy Dave but I have bought from a guy in Bulgaria on e-bay his name is Aleksander Bogdanov (Alternative Photography) his service was excellent and the product was very well packed, he also includes a small volume measure which is very useful. The A is mixed with glycol.
Only used it once so far and was pleased with the result I will be trying it with more as I get used to it. I would certainly buy from him again.

After replying I thought I would check on Mr Bogdanov and he seems to have gone, so won't be buying from him again. I will wait to see what Ian has to offer. Sorry for misinformation Dave.

I though for a few quid that ebay seller was worth a try, so I've ordered some. Will report back.

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but where in the UK can you buy raw chemicals like Phenidone and pyrocatechin to make your own Pyro HD?

Phenidone used to be available from Silverprint until quite recently. It has now gone from their list. I have emailed them to ask if this is just a short term measure or if they are unable to supply in the future. No response so far.

There appears to be no current UK supplier of Phenidone which is quite worrying. I hear it can be obtained from France? It is on sale on Ebay but I have no way of knowing its quality?

Pyrocatechol (same as Pyrocatechin ) is available from Silverprint. However they only sell it in 500g quantities. As you only need 50g per litre for Pyrocat-HD, which goes a very long way, it is expensive and wasteful.

As was discussed here before perhaps we will have to buy and split it within a group here? It needs to be fresh.

Silverprint was asked to make smaller quantities available but they said the could not as they did not have a resident chemist.

We need to find a reliable Phenidone supplier as well
