Yesterday, while I was supposed to be selling off excess gear at the local camera collectors bi-annual market day, I accidentally bought an OM-1N.

I do love the shutter sound and the feel of that little camera. Now I just need to find a nice 28mm or 35mm lens for it. I had a pretty decent kit with an OM-2 years ago, but sold it all off. Madness!

I've observed one thing from this thread : your camera is like a close friend - the longer you've known each other the warmer the relation. And then I've found something of a solution to my question : Voigtländer BESSA R2a; it is small and lightweight, works with batteries :-( but spare ones are not heavy to carry along!
Now I own it and it uses my other superb M-mount lenses. However, can anybody recommend me a lightweight standard lens for it?
Thanks for all answers and three cheers for FADU

I'm for Retina IIIC. compact, superb lens and quiet.
I have also the Bessa R but its quality built is far from the Kodak one

Peter,
Look at the VC lenses. A good 'standard' wide is the 35/1.4 which I have. The 35/1.7 is reputed to be a slightly better lens but it's bigger and heavier.
I also have the 35/2.5 M-mount and the 50/2.5 Screwmount which are both small and light. The 50 is no longer available new and is quite sought after.

Thanks, Leigh
Yes, my feeling of a 'standard' lens would probably be 50mm so even a screw mount sounds good. However, I don't know VC lenses! When Googling I get something digital. Could you tell me a bit more about them?

They will, but it's emergency-use only only: they will fire at a single shutter-speed of 1/90th if there isn't a battery.

FM, FM2 and FE3A will fire at all speeds without a battery though.
