I think the issue is that you linked to the page, not the image itself - but is possible the image hosting site does not allow that as they want to show people their adverts and linking to the image would bypass that. I would use google or OneDrive or Dropbox etc to link to images - no adverts and no problems linking directly to images. Most legitimate hosts have low-volume free versions (which may have adverts, but they won't be from scammers!).

I use post image on the Steve Hoffman music website and never had any trouble, on that website post image makes the pic big on your post without a link ??
I will look into the hosts you have listed above

Yes, but in this case the link appeared to be to the page the image was on, rather than to the image itself. Possibly the site redirects such links to the page in order to make sure people see the adverts - but I don't know that site so do not know exactly what it does.

If you have a Google or Microsoft account you get some free space. I just checked dropbox and it looks like they do not do a free version anymore .
