Resilvering rangefinder mirror
Has anyone tried to resilver a mirror in any photographic equipment?
I have a Kalart rangefinder from a Speed Graphic with a mirror that has lost its silver coating and wonder if recoating is possible. |

Vacuum Coatings in London will re-silver mirrors, I get my SLR mirrors (large format Thornton Pickard Ruby Reflex) from them. These days it's Aluminium rather than Silver but equally as good.
Alternately you can get new front coated mirror glass from Edmunds Optical. A Kalart range finder has two mirrors the first is only partially coated (semi-silvered) the other fully. They sell both. Ian |
