Interesting, Nick. I don't think I had ever seen a picture of him before but he looked like what I'd have expected an old man from an earlier than the mid 1970s era would be like.
My father-in-law belonged to a similar era to Lowry and even in his retirement a dark 3 piece suit with collar and tie was De rigueur What do others think of the photo? I suspect that the lack of shadow detail was deliberate in order to convey the kind of almost perpetual darkness that inhabited such halls then Mike Mike |
