Default Home Made 11"x14" Camera.

One for DIYers to try.

I bet the film and processing costs are high though.

Thanks for posting Keith, I think i'll stick with 4x5, he certainly seemed to have made a good job though.

8x10 is the largest format I have ever used, but even that was too expensive for me and I sold it.
I agree that 5x4 is probably the largest format required for most photographers for enlarging unless they want to make big contact prints.

I have watched the film a couple of times now and am still intrigued as to why he could bring himself to use lollipop sticks in the construction of the film holder.
Perhaps someone else will now come along and make an 11 x 14 camera entirely out of lollipop sticks....

I read in Sunday's papers that residents of HM Prisons make useful objects from matchsticks.

Matchsticks? It strikes me that a camera made from lollipop sticks will lick a camera made from matchsticks - every time.

With an 11x14 x-ray film is the most affordable film. Plus develop it yourself.

Since I got a 5x7 I rarely touch my 4x5. Two of the reasons why are because it's so much easier to focus, and compose.
Another reason is still because of the extra detail.
I have 1 20x24 inch print where you can still see the barbed wire on a fence around 4km away.
I shot it through a 210mm lens on my 5x7.
I could see power lines that far away with 4x5 negatives, but barbed wire is another story.

I am looking at an 11x14 but it's more for studio and macro work.
5x7 is the biggest that I'd most likely bring in the field.
