attachments.

I think it allows a 1400px wide image but when you place the attachment in the post you just see a thumbnail until clicked when it will show image in its own window I think.

What I've done before is to upload photos to an album from where you can get a link to cut and paste into a post.

As Argentum says. To place the thumbnail inline use the little paperclip icon amonst the other icons. If you upload more than one it will list them and you can select the one you want to insert at the current cursor position in the editor.
