Default BBC4 Iceland season

BBC4 have just screened an hour long documentary on the work of photo-journalist Ragnar Axelsson from Iceland.

He documents the vanishing lifestyles of the communities in Iceland and Greenland with some of the most stunning black and white work I have ever seen.

I know "stunning" is used frequently, but the images he has created are fantastic, using a selection of both digital and analogue techniques.

I'm sure they will screen it again or make it available through the iPlayer.

I would heartily recommend catching this documentary if you get the chance.

Mike

Thanks for this. I leave on another Iceland trip in 2 days time. Not sure if I'll have time to watch it now before then but will try.

Is it possible to record or download this from iplayer?

Tim

Just watched it on iPlayer this morning - very highly recommended. From what I've read, and what he's said, the monochrome work is Tri-X, TMX . . .and . . . wait for it . . Technical Pan!
As far as I am aware, you can't download or save from iplayer, you have to watch it as is . . .and it doesn't work abroad either

You can download onto your computer and watch at your leisure. I think there is a 30 day window.

The programme was excellent - well woth a look

According to the Radio Times it's repeated on Wednesday at 12:50am. That's BBC-speak for early Thursday morning!

If you haven't been before... I'm sure you won't be disappointed. Take plenty of film!

If you get the chance, visit the Reykjavik Museum of Photography

When I was there, I saw images by this photographer

Have a super time, I hope you get the weather you want and look forward to seeing your results.

Thanks Richard,
Which channel? I have looked through all in TV times for Wed 11th May (correct?) and can't find it. I also looked through all my freesat online guide for 24.00 Wed but didn't find it (although found a good many other strange things!)

Hi Tim

This is a bit odd - the programme title is "Storyville" and my printed Radio Times, my iPod's TV Guide app and my TV's Freeview EPG all have it on at 00:50 on Thursday morning on BBC4, but Radiotimes.com has something completely different.

So I guess it will be a case of set the video and see what you get!

I caught it by accident last night and can recommend to all.

The landscapes, the people, the photographs were all outstanding.

A great story of great photography.

Kind regards,

ft
