Default Do you have an Arts background?

I have a theory about us photographers which I'll test out with a poll. I'll post my theory after we have some responses

Fell free to elaborate with a post.

I had to choose 'what's a career' - work in music retail, but I have Graphics and Photography degree!

Physics degree I'm afraid, but played piano and clarinet as a youth. I'd like to get a piano again when I live in a big enough house.

I don't know about a career. I've had plenty of jobs ( too many and varied to mention) to support my life-long artistic endeavours which were mainly music related until I took up photography.
As I missed out on university after leaving school (busy driving up and down motorways in a transit van to go and play gigs) I went back as a mature student to do a BA in photography in 2007. Enjoyed it immensely though the practical technique side was a bit light (as you can probably tell!!). My dissertation nearly killed me but I came away with a first.
So I've also put 'what's a career'.

cheers, Tony

I've voted "arts" because that's the business I've been in for the last 20 years although I am a qualified marine engineer.

I've had two "careers". One teaching art, the other making musical instruments. Now I'm retired I just paint, take photographs, build cameras, make longbows, go fishing; and play the banjo - badly!

Two comments:

The list may not be comprehensive. "Arts" is a little broad.

I doubt your sample size will be large enough or random enough.

Kill joy There are only 12 options so can't cover every job title ever created.

Degrees in English Studies (British Literature, teaching) and almost 10 years of practical background in music before picking up photography - selected 'what's a career'.
