I think this was meant for Barry ?

I have owned / used most cameras but sadly never an RZ ....

Current MF equipment: Fuji 6x9s , Mamiya Cs and Mamiya 645 + a smattering of MF pinhole cameras

That's enough!

Neil.

Neil, I wonder about you sometimes.

Repeat - you can never have enough cameras 100 times.

Or maybe repeat it once for each camera you own?

Martin,

Having too many cameras is a hobby of mine that will never - ever be satisfied!

It's a harmless hobby really, as long as you don't run out of funds! Interestingly, most of my cameras have increased in price recenty so I could be on a winner

Neil.

I think many cameras have increased in value quite substantially in recent years after quite a drop after the Millennium and the major switch to digital.

MF and particularly Large Format have risen the most, some cameras fetching their highest ever levels (completed sales). Speed Graphics are one example.

Better 35mm equipment has bounced back but not the later more plastic stuff. I have my sister's last Pentax SLR and the build quality is awful so is the lens, almost no metal and far to light, my Canon D300 is no better but was only £10 new (the batteries cost more)

Back to the OP a CLA adds a lot of value, but I'd let the buyer(s) make that decision, you won't get the benefits or the extra costs back.

Ian

Ian,

I am glad you mentioned the Speed Graphic. I have one of those and noticed the big price increase ony just recently. Even in the US for a tatty one you are looking at many $$$s these days.

I used an RZ for many years but I don't own it any more. Sorry but I can't help with your battery draining issue as I never had that problem.
