Default Elliott Erwitt on the art of photographic sequencing

I found this short piece with Elliott Erwitt discussing his work that may be of interest. It may not be available to those of you outside of the UK.

Thanks, Dave.
I could see it here, outside the UK.

That's good, sometimes the BBC restrict these things.

Nice link Dave, thanks. He has an eye for the gentle quirkiness of life which I like and a down to earth way of explaining what he did that makes you believe that you could do the same

I love his work. Its easy to become stuck in the 'mire of intensity' with a lot of photography. EE's work is a wonderful antidote and no less valid for its honest simplicity. I feel his influence in much of what I do, even the more serious work.

Resurecting an old thread as Elliott Erwitt, at 92, has a new book out soon and has been interviewed for the Guardian.

Good shout, great piece:

"He says remaining an amateur photographer is key to keeping his curiosity alert."

I realise I may have been snobby towards his work as I'd been exposed to many of his books in charity shops in provincial towns arranged amongst dowdy things. With the benefit of (some) maturity, I see that this is due to the fact that they have obviously sold very widely as they possess a unique charm.

Long live Elliott Erwitt!

I fully agree Michael.

And I too, frequently and ashamedly find myself falling into that trap of being a 'photographic snob'. At least being more reluctant and dismissive of photographers who's work seems more frivolous or trivial.
It's a keen reminder to keep one's feet on the ground! Thank you both, for the reminder.
