Angry Recommend me a cleaning fluid for filters.

Please recommend me a lens cleaning fluid that wont leave smears on dark filters. I was using a non branded lens cleaning fluid on an ND filter today, it left smears even after polishing it with a lint free cotton bud. I have tried lens wipes for spectacles but these also leave smears.

Try spectacle lens cleaning pump sprays and wipe the surfaces with a lint free freshly laundered handkerchief.
Failing that Isopropyl alcohol, distilled water and a small amount of Kodak wetting agent. Don't use liquid detergent as it had additives that will leave a mark The proportions of alcohol/water/wetting agent is about 50/45/5%

Yes, 50% deionised/distilled water and isopropyl alcohol blend is good. Be careful what you use to apply it - there are all sorts of nasties in tissues and wipes. A freshly-washed (without fabric conditioner in the wash) cotton handkerchief is probably safest. This mix is good for lenses, too, but applied sparingly.

Yes, I missed that, I have ordered some ROR fliud, I will report my findings. I cleaned a Hoya XO green filter the other day with a non branded fluid it actually took the green coating off the back of the filter. I was trying to remove a grease smear that appeared to be embedded in the coating and got too enthusiastic with my cotton bud. Anyone else experienced stubborn marks on filters?
