Hi from Edinburgh
Hello everybody.
I discovered this forum a couple of weeks ago, just couldn't find the moment to sit down and properly introduce myself. My name's Ivan and I'm a Spaniard living in Edinburgh for the last 4 years. Been doing photography for 7 years now, always film, only B/W for the last 3, I'd say. Got a darkroom at home since last year but only now I've been really spending time in it. So basically, I have a lot of negatives with potential I have to print down, trying to find the best way to do it. I've also discovered Lith printing which I really like for some of my pictures and been experimenting with sepia toning as well (looking forward to get a copy of Tim Rudman's book) Always keen on keeping things simple, I realise now I should be more careful with the exposure and development of my films to get easier to print negatives. So I have a lot of work to do! If only the day job wouldn't get in the way... Anyway, I'm looking forward to share some of my shots with you and keep enjoying the useful info and inspiring pictures from FADU. Cheers! Ivan |

Hi Ivan and welcome. You are our second member from Edinburgh now.
I suspect you are not the only one not to have done film speed and development testing. I can think of at least one other - me! : There are several good books on such matters such as Les McLean's Creative B&W Photography and the Carson Graves book "The Zone System for 35mm Photographers". They are worth purchasing Mike |

Welcome
I am a new visitor myself. Its actually rather nice to come across a mainly British forum for film photography. As you live in Edinburgh I would like to recommend that you take time to visit the Edinburgh Photographic Society. They are a lively group that go in for some really useful photo criticism. Also, for camera clubs these days, it is quite large so there are lots of like minded people to get to know. Adrian |
