Default Hello from North Yorks!

Greetings to All,

Joined the Forum for the first time, & have read a number of postings. Wanted to say found them patient, helpful & friendly. A pleasure to read.

About me, I still use a square format Rollei. Seems to connect your eye with landscape photography like nothing else I know. Other lenses & formats do other things, but that's usually what comes out of the bag first. Though it's getting a little difficult to use a film camera in public these days without being noticed, & maybe losing some of your freedom to photograph in the process may go with that. Film seems to have become a curiosity. But I like the texture film gives to a scene. It may be hard to define exactly, but it's THERE. Lately however I have started sharpening and colouring (slightly) negs & smallish prints on screen. It gives a hybrid look that I also like, & of course it's true that everything that goes into print or on the net is digitised anyway.

Am having enlarger problems at the moment. The Beseler 45 VXL needs disassembly & reassembly at the focus stage. Any recommendations as to who might do this much appreciated. Mr Cad in Croydon will, but the distance from Yorks & round the M25 to S. London with a large chassis in the car is a little daunting. Light engineering at home, BTW, just isn't me.

Best wishes to all

Rob Field

Hello and welcome to the forum Rob.

Try this link;
http://www.northernphoto.co.uk/

You'll see he's just down the road from you and specialised in Durst but he may be willing to help if you drop him a mail and explain your plight.
I also know he's off on holiday from the 30th June for 2 weeks.

Best of luck.

Brilliant reference, Marty. Have emailed & will hope the best. Going anticlockwise round the M25 with both beasts in the car & one eye on also on the tom-tom wasn't a great prospect, Leeds much easier. THANKS

Welcome Rob. I often wish that I attracted more attention using a film camera as it would give me more chance to promote the medium.

Alas I haven't found this to be the case.

Mike
